Can we talk briefly about the mental game? This workout will challenge everything about your mental game: your inner monologue, your integrity, your grit.
Can you commit to a 1:1 rest? That just means that if it takes you 2:01 to run 800m, your next rest interval is 2:01. Make sense? You might be tempted to cheat one way or another during this run, but stick to the plan.
And what kind of self talk happens when the interval gets tough? Remind yourself that your legs are strong, that your lungs are full of air, and that you are in control. Then just go.
